Planing

I have a 2007 Azure I/O Sport Deck boat with Merc 5.0 Aplha 3? 26hp and am having trouble getting it to plane out quick enough with just myself in the boat and have not even pulled a skier yet.  I have the trim all the way down and from my experiance in other boat they seem to plane out a lot quicker.Am I correct in starting with the trim all of the way down?  I can put the gass to the floor and still have this problem, I can just imagine how hard it is going to be for a skier to pop up.  Any advice would be appreciated.  Gene

Although you didn't mention the length of your boat, did you consult your owners manual? There's sound advice in there. How long has this problem been experienced?

Sounds to me you've got to select the correct propeller to achieve desired results, as in pitch, not so much diameter. It may require some experimentation, so be patient until you find what works best.
