Bike computers
Question
Michael,
THanks for the response.. and I won't bug you after this... I'll check out the Ciclosport and Cateye stuff.
The fork does have a suspension element and its a 'Judy' model... I forget the brand... its relatively thick.
I agree there is a magnet - receiver issue, but let me tell you, I've spent literately hours tweaking the spacing, location, etc..(im an engineer so thats what I get) to get it as CLOSE as possible... still have issues... the Trek model I have is simply awful, NO reliability no matter HOW close I get the magnet to the receiver... which is really surprising because their bikes are fantastic.. I guess they should stick to their core competency! Thanks!

Question -
I've tried /used a lot of different bike computers... the one I have on my touring bike works great.. I'm not sure the brand. 2 years ago I bought a Trek 4500 mountain bike, I used mostly for poorly paved road biking... but have had a TERRIBLE time finding a computer that will work.. I've tried 2 different wired versions (one was a Trek, I dont recall the other) and 1 wireless version, NONE of which I can get to work (mostly due to poor ability to find the signal when the magnet spins near the receiver). Can you recommend a RELIABLE bike computer... it doesnt have to be feature packed.. I'm just looking for the basics, but one which I know will WORK all the time! Thanks for any help!

Hello Lance (Armstrong :-)
First I'll need to know if you have a suspension fork upfront or not
And what brand of fork is it, because the thickness of the forklegs can be thicker of less by brand, this is the case with a lot of computers.
The magnet is too far away from the receiver.
Ciclosport and Cateye makes really good stuff.
Maybe you can answer those, or take a tour on the website from Ciclosport.com and Cateye.
Kind regards,
Michael
Answer
Hello again Lance,
Sometimes are those problems very difficult to survey and to explain.
Sometimes we can't solve these.
About your brand shocks, it is a Rock Shox, very reliable forks.
Trek is very good, but the just need to stay with their bikes like you said earlier before.
Ciclosport and Cateye are the most reliable computers at this moment.
I wish you all the luck with a new computer, don't hesitate to keep me posted about your experiences with the new one.
Save miles...
Kind regards,
