visted amsterdam several years ago. worried about bicyle theft

just got a nice new cannondale Jekyll 500 Full Suspension Mountain Bike

live in the city of chicago.

what is the BEST easy to carry lock i can buy for my investment?

It is a nice town, isn't it, Amsterdam. With a lot of bicycles in and around Amsterdam.
I've lost once a Cannondale also which was locked on 2 ABUS locks, and still it was be stolen!
Not a pleasent suprise when you want to cycle home after work.
But what is a good lock, in my opinion it is the best to save up your bike at home, store in a garage or in a spare room.
I do not know the situation in Chicago, but I shouldn't left my Cannondale outside!
We have here the brand ABUS, which makes a lot of locks.
And they are very good, but I don't really know if they are
available in the US?
