Help buing bike to tow barley piccolo

Hello,
I hope you can help me. I need advice on buying a good bicycle to tow a barley piccolo tag-a-long.  I currently have a wal-mart special to tow with. I also have a Motobecan touring bike that is slighty too large (18" frame) that I've ridden for over 20 years ! ;), but I do not want to tow with that bike. Its just too uncomfortable for me.  I do not want to be bent over as much and as stretched out as I am on the Motobecan

I went to a bicycle shop today and spoke to a salesman. He almost sold me a TREK Navigator comfort bike. I decided to wait and came home to do some additional research. Its not clear to me that is the right bike for what I want to do. I'd like to be able to ride with my daughter on short tours (10-25 miles initially) over one or two days.  I'm afraid this bike will be too heavy and a pig going up hills. I'm 5'2" and 120 lbs, my 5 year old daughter is almost 4 foot and 56 lbs. .  I'd perfer to ride in a more upright position. Do you have any recommendations or can point me to someone or a web site that can assist me?

I tried using something similar to the Piccolo when my daughter was around your daughter's age and I was unhappy with the stability. But since you've been using it, I guess it works for you.

I am not a fan of upright bikes for anything except short trips or off road. Drop handlebars allow you to vary your position while uprights restrict you to one position.

So I'm probably not the best person to advise you. Any "comfort" or "hybrid" bike you get is going to be heavier. The wider tires are also going to be a drag on your riding. The Trek Navigator actually looks like a decent choice for you. Its lightweight for a comfort bike. Has good components and a wide gear range. It looks to me like the salesman really tried to fit something to your needs.
