Answer
Hi OJ.
Do you mean you want to join a club? If you can find one for your age group and people with the same general interests, then by all means do it.
The Pecan City Pedalers which I belong to, do have some 12 year olds but they ride road bikes with the group and are in quite good physical condition.
Personally I would try to get in better shape by riding the bike, doing some exercise, improving my diet etc and watch for a club that caters to what I like. Or see if there are others your age that have the same interests and start your own club that caters to people your age and with your interests.
It doesn't have to be too fancy, when I was a kid a bunch of us used to go for a 10 to 15 mile ride each Saturday Morning. We would ride to a friends house then over to a big field, play football then ride home. No officers, no dues, just a bunch of us would get together. There were the regulars that showed up every Saturday and some that just came along once in a while. We got older and that stopped when I was about 13 and my family moved to the farm.
Anyway I would not worry so much about a club, just about having fun, being a kid and enjoying my bike and friends.
Do you ride or know anything about BMX or BMX racing? My grandson Jason who is 8 is now really getting into BMX racing and I see it is now an Olympic Sport. Jason is having a blast and wants Grandpa to race with him, I may do that next year.
Hope this helps
Have a great day
