giant sedona
Question
hi I have a simple (i hope) question I have a chance to buy a used 2006 guessing the age by the mocha color giant sedona lx it has disk brakes the man said only thing wrong it had a 3 inch scratch where it fell over while in storage is it worth 150 dollars used?? I think he said it was a 24 speed
Answer
Rocky,
Sorry for the delay, I am away from home house-hunting. However, I think I can help you with this. $150 sounds pretty good, considering the original price and the general quality of Giant bikes. The 3-inch scratch should concern you a bit. The aluminum frame won't rust, but the scratch may have come from an impact that weakened the frame. So you may want to clarify if there is a dent in the scratch. If so, your deal may not be such a deal: The frame is the single most expensive component of a bike to replace and you should be wary of damaged aluminum because it has a very limited fatigue strength. I would say that anything deeper than 1/8 of an inch is no-go.
Other than that, as long as the size is close to what you are looking for, you should be fine. From my research, the bike is an all-around bike, so it has a lot of adjustability at the seatpost and stem. It isn't strong enough for serious mountain biking, but it should be pretty durable for bikeway and dirt road riding.
Is there something else you would like to know? Just follow-up on this answer,
Good Luck!
