Age of Peugeot Bicycle
Question
I have an old Peugeot bike that I was wondering the age of. I can't find a serial number on it anywhere, I've been doing some research on it and it is either a u80 or a80.
Here's a picture

Answer
As a matter of fact, I have nearly the same bicycle, but it's the touring version with fenders, lights, luggage carrier, etc. I believe mine is a PX8. I received it as a present from my uncle in 1974, when I was thirteen (and quite tall for my age, as it is the biggest adult frame).
I still have it and ride it sometimes. The serial number is an add-on plate that should be below the pedal axle holder. But as it is not part of the frame, maybe it has been removed.
I see you have the chrome front fork and wheel rims.
I cannot be sure, but my best guess would be 1972 or 1973, because the Peugeot name on the frame side is still in smaller letters. As far as I know, it most certainly is a model from the early seventies. It looks in even better shape than mine.
These are great bicycle to ride. So if it is the right size for you, don't give it away, ride it !
I can ask around here is Belgium or France and see if I can find a web site with more information. If you care to provide me with a valid e-mail, I can send what I come up with. My mail address is
