Question
I was just wondering if this would be a good reliable bike to buy? I know nothing about this kind of bike, but I know that it is supposedly in good condition. However, would it be hard to find replacement tires and gears for it at a local bike shop? If you could kindly answer my questions, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.
AnswerI'm not familiar with the Firenze brand, so I googled "Firenze bicycle" and "Firenze MT505". The consensus is that in general it's a mediocre or low-end brand made in Taiwan, and mostly given away in promotions during the 1970s and 80s. Based on this, I wouldn't pay a lot for it or use it for long rides in isolated areas where you might get stuck if it broke down. It's probably fine as an around-town bike.
Tires, tubes, gears, and other basic components should be no problem to replace. If you read through the Google posts, many people upgraded their Firenze bicycles or replaced worn components.
