Mountain Bike Handle Bars
Question
Thank you for your time, Michael.
I was wondering if there are different configurations for mountain bike handlebars. For my model (Trek 37D) it seems the bars are low, almost like a road bike. As some of the trailas I ride on are steep and I want to stay more upright, I would like to have the handlebars higher, and maybe back more.
Are there different configurations and, if so, is it specific to bike brands or can I pick up after-market handlebars to get the desired effect?
Thanks again.
Answer
Dear Sean,
On almost every bike you can change your stem and handlebars.
Some you can adjust very easily, some others are from the type ahead-set.
These you can adjust by placing extra/higher rings between the headset and the stem.
I don't know if you are very handy, so you could do this job at yourself.
But you must know what to do, if not I would recommend you to go to a local bikestore.
They should advise you about prices/changements and of course do the replacement.
If you have other questions, feel free to ask.
Best regards,
Mike
