taller ladies golf clubs
Question
I am a beginner golfer. I just played my first round. I am wondering what kind of clubs I should get. I have been using my husbands..found out they are more work for a women. I am 5'10 1/2.Also I was measured at a golf store and the said I was 37 1/2" to the floor if that helps. I have found some tall ladies clubs but wonder if they would work for me. I also like the styles and colors the ladies sets come in. Any ides?
Answer
Good Morning Dena,
You must be 8 feet tall if your measurment is 37.5, typically we measure from finger tip to floor. Almost everyone comes out within an inch or two of 28 inches. Taller people have longer arms, shorter people have shorter arms etc... They may have meant that is the length of a specific club like a 7 iron or something, I do not have club specs at my finger tips (no pun intended) but that is my guess. I am confident the longer ladies clubs would work fine for you. The difference you will notice from your husbands clubs is that they will be lighter, giving you more clubhead speed and more importantly more flexible shafts which is important for distance. You do not want to go more than an inch longer, or they will again be getting heavier and additional length effects the lie of the club. Something to consider is the longer club you get, the more the toe of the club will be in the air at impact causing your shots to go left, the club should rest on it's sole, not on the heel, or toe for that matter. Some of that has to do with a persons posture and how high or low they hold their hands. Hard to explain without pictures. But it sounds to me like you are on the right track.
