the ball moves after you place to make your last shot
Question
What happens when a player puts the ball down and it rolls
twice on it own and it was the final shot to the hole????
That happen today when Kerr place her ball and the ball
rolled twice and she came back at the 16th hole of the
USA Womens Open 2009. I saw on TV and she did not tell
anyone and took her shot anyway and the ball did not go
into the hole. She walked to the 17th hole !!!!
What are the rules pertaining to this kind of problem ??
Answer
Hi Karen
I have read a lot of articles and watched highlights etc about the Womens Open and have not heard or seen anything about this. The rule though is that if it did infact relocate AFTER she lifted her marker, she must replace it without penalty before playing a stroke, (penalty if she addressed, soled her club)otherwise she is playing a ball from the wrong spot, which is a penalty and has to be replayed properly. If she plays a shot from the next teeing ground before rectifying it she is disqualified. Whether it was the last shot on the hole or not does not matter. I wish I had seen it happen, I could be of more help. Sorry. If there is a rule infraction believe me it will be exposed with millions watching they never get away with anything.
Have a great day and keep watching!
