Putting off the green
Question
Player chipped onto the green; went up and marked her ball and pulled the pin out. Next player was on the fringe of the green and putted her ball into the hole for a chip-in. Another player said that the one who made the chip-in lost a stroke because she did not ask the person to remove the pin. My question, should anyone be assessed a stroke?
Answer
Absolutely not. There is no penalty and there are not any rules to say what is not a penalty, like it is not a penalty to eat a peanut butter sandwich while golfing etc, otherwise the rulebook would be a foot thick, but you will not find anywhere in the rule book that this is a penalty.
Anytime someone "shoots from the hip" with rules, ask, "can you show me that in the rule book?"
And you should have a rule book too, everyone should, the rules are there to help you. look at the last question I had regarding the rules, it also dealt with not having a rule book.
