Club to buy for beginner?
Question
I am a beginner but have been playing and swinging for years with my husbands clubs..I am tall 5'11-and am looking at some clubs on sale at Dicks Sporting Goods for $149.00-Womens Lady Hagen MS2 Complete set..They are of course shorter than my husbands but I am wondering can I just accomodate for the length or is that not a good idea? I was told the mens are too heavy and the Senior Mens I looked at were more $ than I wanted to spend at this time..They said the senior mens would be long enough for me but light as the womens? Thanks for any advice!
Answer
Hello Tina,
Most important is the measurement from your wrist, or fingertips to the ground, rather than your overall height. Most taller people have longer arms, but it is good to check. You could have the Women's clubs extended, I would check into that, might be less than the Sr Men's set, which is what I usually recommend for a lady that needs longer clubs. Check with a Golf Shop that does re-gripping for a price. They can usually save the grip to re-use. It should be about $4 a club. Also if you have longer fingers, you might want larger grips. I would wheel and deal with the store on those Sr Men's. You can also check Craigs List, Ebay etc for some Sr clubs to get a lower price. Also what is important about Sr v.s. Men's is the softer flex of the shaft, that is why you should not just go out and get Men's just because they are longer.
I hope this helps. See my website at walkersgolfventures.com Have a great day and write back if there is anything I can help with further,
good golfing
