Fairway Woods
Question
Iazzal,
I have Cobra SZ 3,5,& 7 fairway woods. I am having trouble making solid contact. Do you hit down or sweep fairway woods? Can you advise as to ball & hand position? Thank you for your time & advive.
Sincerely,
Frank DiMaio
Answer
The terminology is wrong to state that a ball is hit down or sweep---The golf club will have an arc, the shorter the shaft the more uprite the arc---Ball position is the key to everything---You need to swing the club naturally and just brush the grass---Observe where the club first contacts the grass--Play the ball on the right side of this mark---I do not me right of the mark, but on the mark's right side---This will be hitting down on the ball---For a driver to sweep the ball, the ball would be played in the middle or left center of the mark---These same fairway woods when played using a tee should be tee'd low and played in the middle of you grass mark--
Good luck--
