U.S.Open
Question
Take for example the U.S open for example. What does it take to get into this event. It is an open, so I am guessing some kind big entry fee. Tell me please.
Thank You
Answer
Dear Garrett, thanks again for the question. Indeed the US Open is an Open golf tournament in that there is no invitation, but rather anyone can play. However, in order to play, you must still meet certain requirements. First of all you must be a zero handicap golfer. (and you must be able to prove this with your current handicap card) 2nd of all, you must attend local and regional qualifying events in your area and be among the top finishers. The reason for this is that the tournament itself can only handle so many golfers. With that in mind, the US Open only accepts the top finishers in various regions around the country as well as the top PGA touring professionals. Incidentally each local and regional qualifer, as well as the US Open itself only has a $100 entrance fee. Ultimately it is talent and skill that gets you in tournaments and on tour, not money. Good luck again, and don't forget...
Love the game,
