golf course measurement
Question
WHICH POINTS OF REFERENCE DO YOU USE TO MEASURE A GOLF COURSE. IS IT FROM THE REAR OF THE TEE BOX TO THE CENTER OF THE GREEN OR IS IT SOMETHING ENTIRELY DIFFERENT
Answer
Dear Roy, thanks for the question. This is a difficult question because the answer can vary with different courses. Generally, the scorecard with have measurements from all the different tee-boxes, for instance, it will say the course from the Blue Tees is 6800 yards. There is usually some form of permanent marker on the tee box area from which each hole is measured, and YES, to the center of the green. Obviously, courses don't leave the tees in the same position every day, so the golfer will have to adjust based on today's position and its relation to the permanent marker. Having said this though, some courses might not show the permanent marker and therefore your best bet is to ask before heading out. Good luck and remember...
