Question
Hi,  I am trying desperately to figure out how to raise enough money so
that I might play golf full time as a living plus to get my pga card one
day.   I shoot an average -2 to even.

Answer
HI Adam;

First...would you please rate my answers as All Experts will ask you to?  Thanks in advance for that.

Now onto you and your question.

BRAVO...I applaud you for wanting to chase your dream!  In as much as golf is the greatest game ever, Golf is also a business and you must approach it as such!  So you would do well to learn about the business of being a professional player.

From a comical sense... this is a subject that could make the classic novel War and Peace look like a pamphlet, and I don't think that All experts will give me 100 terabytes of space...or more!

I am pretty sure that somewhere in my other answers here on All Experts, your question has been bridged before.  If not by me then surely someone else.

But, Hopefully with my question suggestions you will find your answers.

Please understand...As a PGA Professional and Instructor, I would ask you these questions if your were my student.  Because this is a reality check here.  The questions below are meant to inform not offend.

Consider these questions as your first lesson!  They are designed to help you.  And as with any golf shot...I cannot hit the shot for you.  But I can show you and teach you how to hit it.

1. What kind of verifiable TOURNAMENT track record for playing do you have?

2. Who is your swing coach?

3. Is that person a PGA Member?

4. Are you currently working with Your Local PGA Professional with regards to your game?  (PGA Professionals are always great sources for knowing who invests in players)

5. You will need to have at least one PGA Member on your team, You might as well get one now.  Now you may think you don't need one, but in reality in order for you to even apply to the tour for Q-School you must have at least 2 Written Verifiable References.  One of them a PGA Professional and One PGA Tour Member!

6.  How willing are you to go for broke and place everything you personally have on the line for this?  In other words, would you risk bankruptcy for it?

7. Would your immediate or extended family risk bankruptcy for it?

I know these are hard questions, but if I didn't ask, how good of teacher would I be?  And Without YOU having the commitment, YOU will never achieve the success!  You MUST be willing to DO WHATEVER IT TAKES!

My best suggestion is to find the absolute best player in the area you live who is a PGA Professional, and go have a sit down talk with him.  You can find out who that is by calling the Local PGA Section in your area and ask them who the current Section Champion is.

Do yourself the biggest favor you can right now.  Be very honest and real with you first and then second, whoever you decide to talk with about this.
