securing amateur status
Question
I am a former PGA club professional and have been out of the business since 1972.What process is need for me to secure my amateur status????
Thank you
Answer
HI Mike;
So long as you have not played in any events where there is prize money involved, nor have you accepted any $$$ for lessons, for at least the last two years, you are an Amateur.
My best suggestion is to do this. Write a formal letter to the PGA of America and to the USGA informing them of the situation and then requesting amateur reinstatement.
I do remember this though. You only get reinstatement one time. At least that is how it used to be anyways.
Thanks for asking. Again contact the PGA and especially the USGA asking their take on your particular situation.
Happy Golfing and Have a Great Day.
