Back spin on tee shots
Question
i am 59 yrs old and hit my Taylor Made R5 around 245 yrds very straight. My shaft is a Taylor made stiff with a low kick point. What I am wondering about is all my drives have back spin and i get no roll on my shots. I dont want to make any major changes since I do hit it so straight but overspin would be nice on the tee shots.
Answer
Hello Brian,
Thanks for the question. The normal reason for creating this type of backspin is due to a steep angle of attack instead of sweeping the ball away. Without seeing your setup and swing it is difficult, however try this.
1. Widen your stance a fraction.
2. Place 60% of your wieght on your right side.
3. Position your head to the right of centre so that your spine is not perpendicular to the ground but has a tilt in it.
4. Make sure the ball is opposite your left heel.
I hope this helps.
