Which ball to use
Question
My son has a club head speed of 94 mph. Please recommend which ball best suits this speed.
Answer
Hi Bob,
On my website, www.probablegolfinstruction.com , I always advocate using a ball which increases feel and spin. Golfers will realize a better short game (which comprises over 50% of their strokes).
There is very little difference in distance for most golf balls today. The ones that do travel farther are hard, low spin balls that sacrifice spin and feel.
I'd have your son use a ball that provides a softer feel and has high spin. I recommend a number of these on my sister site, www.golf-ball-vacaction.com .
Of course, you need to consider expense. I play the Titleist Pro V1 for it's great feel and spin but it is at the high end of the expense scale. If you can affort it, I'd recommend that ball. It's still quite durable. It all depends on the number of errant balls that are hit resulting in lost balls.
Hope this helps.
