Pulls.
Question
-------------------------------------------
Hello.
This is just an update for Stanley.
The weather here in Ireland has been very stormy lately with very strong wind and lots of rain so I havent had a lot of opptunity to work on your suggestions until today.
This morning I played 9 holes ( until in hammered down rain) in very windy conditions and played the best I have for a couple of months. I have been using my big glass back door to check my allignments and working on a smooth tempo. The result is my pulls have stopped....in fact I hit the ball very straight. I shot 39 gross on the front nine of my home course including two birdies. I putted very poorly...well below my usual standard....and as a result had three 3putt bogies which stopped my score from being even better. If I ahd my normal putting game together I thing I would have shot even par!!!!!!! I hit several Iron shots into Kick in distance and almost every shot went directly at the target. I double bogied the one par 4 hole by hitting my drive out of bounds so even with this 6 I still shot 39. As you can tell I very happy and Im looking forward to some better weather so I can continue my quest to get to scratch handicap.
Thanks again for your help.
-----Question-----
Thanks in advance for your help.
My problem is simply this....I have a problem which has developed recently causing me to pull shots left with my irons. I strike the ball well and my distance is good, usually i make good downward contact with plenty of power.
I think it may be caused by a slight over the top move which I have worked hard to correct. I sometimes pullhook my driver also and this leads me to think it is a problem of clubhead path. I am a 70's shooter on my good days....handicap ia 10.....average score 81.
Thanks again in advance.

hello brian. i see that you are a descent golfer who tries at this game very hard. if you are a 70's shooter then you know that you are simply going through the phases of pulling or slicing... well then, lets get rid of these problem as soon as possible.
1. check your grip. is it too strong? try weaker grip and see how you do... u may see the change immediatley
2. check your set-up.. is it set to hit a pull? make sure you are perpendicular with your body and your target line....
3. check your tempo... is it too fast? try slowing down a bit... you may see some change too
4. are you rotating properly at the moment of impact? try to get your belt buckle pointed at the target at the moment of impact. imagine tiger woods. you probably know that he has a great lower body rotation. you should copy him as this may straighten out your ball and also add that every 5 or 10 yards... who knows?
5. and perhaps the quickest way to solve the problem is to hit a fade. do this carefully as this may suddenly ruin your swing. you probably do know how to hit a fade... then apply your knowledge to hit one. but be careful and don't hit a SLICE... you don't want one problem after another....
hope some these tips can help you. unfortuanatly, i cannot see your swing so i don't know whats going on... but i am confident that at least one of these tips will help you. try them one by one and see which ones work...
if you have further questions... then let me know. i will love to answer your follow-up. good luck
Answer
well i don't know about you but it sure sounds to me like you have fixed your pulls. it sounds like you are hitting right at your target. keep it up! and make sure you practice even harder to keep the good swing. whether i helped you or not, it makes me feel good that you had a good day. shooting 39 with an out of bounds is something to think about!!!! it is indeed impressive and also, if you said you had bad putting day and still shot 39, that is even better!!!!!!! putting often determines your golf round as you should try to avoid 3 putts as much as possible. also, about the out-of-bounds. next time that you do hit out of bounds, think about that day that you were able to shoot 39. this happy and also a positive thought can help you avoid disastrous rounds. cause you see, an out of bounds can have a big, negative, mental effect on your golf game for the rest of the day. so keep it up cause it sounds to me like you are on the right track. too bad that you couldn't finish 18 holes. keep practicing on your set-up. DON"T LOSE IT. I MEAN IT WHEN I SAY KEEP WORKING AT IT. in fact, hone it. in your home, when you can't play because of the rain, strect your lower back and stay flexible. i would like to thank you so much for updating me. if you can, please do so again and again. i would like to offer you my guidance as you improve your golf game.
