-----Question----- Thanks. You say that you use the lob wedge from 50 to 30 yards. How about 30 to 10 yards ? when you get very close to the green do you still use it ? Do you use it for chips ?
You have helped me before. I like to use my lob wedge anytime I am pitching the ball from 50 yards in. I have been told that I should get more proficient with the other clubs because it is better to keep the ball flight lower. I understand that for chipping, I should follow that advice, but when I try to use clubs other than my lob wedge for pitching I end up being too careful with my swing. I like using that one club ( lob wedge ). If I am going to improve , will I have to learn to use those other clubs ?
-----Answer-----
thank you for your question. you are genious by saying that you like to use it within 50 yards. i like to use my lob wedge between 50 yards to 30 yards. its a great club to use and very much accurate if you practice with it. i spent countless of hours working on my lob. and guess what? if i have 50 yards or less to the green, i am almost guaranteed to make up and down for par or even birdie. but don't open up your lob wedge face. just swing it like you would naturally do with other clubs. do you know how i control my distance? i grip the club at the end of the grip. i swing to 9 o'clock position on my bacswing and fully finish through. i make sure i have slow, and same rythem to ensure good distance control. this would go 50 yards. if i grip down one inch, a general rule is that you hit it 7 yards less. when i grip down a club one inch shorter and make the same 9'oclock swing, i hit almost preciscely a 34 yards. and so on and on and on. But it is true that this is not effective when there is heavy wind. distance control becomes a lot harder and you lose that distance control. thats why you should learn how to hit those shots with sand wedge and even pitching wedge. its a good weapon to ensure good shots within 50 yards. so its up to you. learning how to hit shots with pitching wedge and sand wedge will definitly lower your score when it comes to windy situation. good luck. i hope i helped
Answer
no i do not use it within 30 to 10 yards and i recommend you don't do this. if its like 10 yards, i like to use my sandwedge that bounces once or twice on the green and just stop. i definitly do not like to use my lob wedge for those particular shots unless i have a bunker or hazard to clear and it needs to stop quickly.... but you can even use pitching wedge. which will roll more and still check up when it lands. u can even use your 3 woods, or your 8-iron. it will roll and this is easy because its like putting. the more you roll, the more precise you will be. so try using those clubs around that range and yes, try to roll the ball more. the answer is, this technique will lower your score as this is more precise. of course, you will have to practice and hone this skill before you go out on the golf course. so i will not say that it will make you a better player but it will get you that lower score if you can perfect the chip and roll concept from 30 to 10 yards. my favorite club to use is sandwedge. that is the best club for the shot as it spins but still roll a litle bit of way. do you have any other questions? if you do, feel free to ask. i hope i helped you. bye-bye
