short shots
Question
I like using my lob wedge anytime I'm within 50 yards. People tell me that I should get more proficient with other clubs to get the ball rolling sooner. I've experimented but I end up guessing on distances and then regretting not using the lob wedge. I've been told that the lob wedge is harder to hit than e.g. an 8 iron, but I feel more confident with the lob. What would you advise ?
Answer
Hey Neil: Becoming proficient with other shots would require practice so that you can develop "feel" for those shots. If you have time to practice, it wouldn't be a bad idea to have another shot in your arsenal. Even though the lob wedge is considered a low percentage club, in your case it's a higher percentage than trying to attempt shots you haven't practiced. You got to go with what produces the lowest scores.
If you feel the lob wedge is costing you shots, you might try to find the time to develop something else.
I hope you've found this advise useful.
