Hitting drive to the left
Question
I am a women using a King Cobra m speed offset driver. I have always hit my drives staight approx 150-180 yards. All of a sudden I am hitting my drives to the left. I don't know what I could have changed to start doing this. Any advice?
Answer
Hello Jerri, i will try and suggest ways inwhich you can straighten up your drives.
1. Check your grip, do you see more than 2 knuckles on your left hand? if so turn your left hand to the left, is your right hand too far to the right of the handle? if so move it also to the left, doing this weakens the grip and produces a more neutral clubface at impact, you may well have a strong grip at the moment which could close the face and hit the ball left. if the flight is low then i suspect it is your hands.
2. are you simply aiming left, get a friend to check where you are actually pointing to, or place two clubs on the floor parallel to each other and begin hitting shots, this might be the reason.
3. is the shaft too soft for you, consider using a slightly stiffer flex.
4. is the ball position too far forward in the stance? try moving the ball slightly more to the right and see if that cures it.
if all else fails book a lesson with your nearest PGA Pro.
good luck
