Slice with my driver
Question
I have a Nike Sasquatch 460 cc 9.5 degree & Stiff flex Shaft driver and I am getting a big slice. With my other clubs from 3 Hybrid on down I do not hit a big slice and they all are reg flex shafts . Could this also be causing my slice? Should I trade it in? Also is there a drill that would force me to be more inside out vs outside in with my driver. And how can I tell if I am inside out vs outside in.
Note: I have tried different tee heights and moving ball forward / back in my stance and I still see the slice.
Could it be my grip is not right. I tried changing my grip to make it more close club face and it did not help.
Thanks

Answer
Nitin,
I don't think I'd trade the driver in just yet, and I'm pretty sure I wouldn't mess with my grip. If you're still slicing the ball even though you've tried moving it around in your stance, it's a pretty good indication that you have some kind of issue with staying on plane. You're probably swinging outside/in. Try this drill to feel the club on the correct plane...
I'd try this with an iron first, then with your driver. Take a stance without actually addressing a ball. Swing at a tee, a blade of grass, something other than a ball. Before swinging, take your right foot (I assume you're right handed) and pull it straight back 8 or 10 inches.
It should be as if someone grabbed the heel of your shoe and pulled it back toward your butt. Take several slow practice swings, then several regular swings from this position. Your right shoulder will be forced to follow the same plane that your feet are on. You'll feel your hands and arms drop into the correct position as the club comes down. It's virtually impossible to make yourself come over the top (outside / in) If you forced yourself to swing incorrectly from this position you'd nearly topple over because of the position of your feet. If I ever feel myself starting to come over the top I'll back off and take a few swings like this, just to remind myself of how the swing is supposed to feel on the way down.
Good Luck
