curious if I should take golf to the next level
Question
I have recently decided to take up golf. I just turned 22 and am still in college. I played baseball at the juco level for two years and got hurt and out of shape. Now I am really competitive in golf, I have played hard (3 to 5 times a week)for 2 months and am shooting in the 70's every round. For instance I played really well yesterday shooting a 76 with 2 triple bogeys. I play extremely well and then will have an 8 on a hole or two. I was thinking about trying to qualify for hooters tour maybe if I get better by next May.?????
Answer
Neal: Once you elect to try out for the Hooters or any other professional tour, you'll be giving up your amateur status and will be unable to play in amateur events for possibly 2 years as the USGA could possibly take that long to reinstate you. I would suggest entering a few amateur tournaments to see if you have the tournament mentality to do well. If so, then consider the professional route.
If it were me, I would want to eliminate those triple bogies before turning pro. I realize eliminating them altogether is not possible, but at least make them only a casual occurance.
Good luck Neal, I hope you do well.
