Hitting Chip Shots off the Toe
Question
When I practice chipping a lot of balls, I start hitting the chips off the toe and then I can't stop. They are definitely not shanks. I've tried everything(moving the ball back in my stance, moving closer to the ball, moving farther away from the ball) This only happens when I practice a lot. I just had an artificial green put in my back yard and I love practicing, but this is extremely frustrating.
Answer
hello ron. i think i understand your problem. i think your stance is a little bit off right now because you have been moving it around too much. here is the solution. just set up so that you feel COMFORTABLE. and get the club a little steeper at the adress. don't try lay the club down. from there, i want you to swing OUTSIDE. and then hit the ball from STEEP angle. this is a techinique used by tom watson, one of the best chipper in the game... i think it can work for you too. remember, steep back, steep through.
