shortening clubs

My wife has just started golf lessons with a view to playing. I have a spare set of carbon fibre shafted clubs. would they be O.K. to cut down for my wife to use. She is 56 and 5ft 3ins. If this is a satisfactory solution how much should they be cut down by?

Hi David, unfortunately cutting down mens clubs is not a wise option because of the way you will affect the playing characteristics of the clubs. It will change the lie angle of the club making it flatter, it will make the flex of the shaft stiffer, it will change the swing weight and balance point too. You are better off seeking advice from a local pro.
