hitting solidly

Question
John-I have written you before with great results.  Thank you!  I have
progressed to where I think my problem (hitting thin shots) hopefully lies.  I
have sight in one eye (left).  The right see light, but the nerves in the center
are damaged and everything is fuzzy.  Using both eyes I see perfectly,
however it is the left eye that sees.  I stopped playing 15 years ago (when
both eyes worked) and began again one year ago.  this time with the
disturbing thin hit effect.  If I look at the ball when I swing (like I did 15 years
ago-hcp 9), I get this result - thin hits.  If I look beyond and to the front
(upper left of the ball about 1/2 inch) and concentrate on that spot, it brings
me to a solid hit.  I want to say all the time, but at least a lot of the time.
Anything to this?  I just swing too well (I think!)to hit every shot thin or
topped. Thank you.  Gene

Answer
Hey Gene,

Man, I'm not sure about this one. I'm not sure exactly what to tell you.  I'm guessing it has something to do with whether you were left or right eye dominant.  Most right handed people are right eye dominant.  That's why right handed people close their left eye when aiming a gun.  Close the wrong eye, and your sighting will be off.  Maybe you could try addressing the ball/lining up your shot with your right eye closed?  Maybe that way it would be set up more for the way your left see things.  Either that or close your right eye when you swing.  That's all I can think of.  Sorry I wasn't more help.

Good Luck,

John
