callaway equip.
Question
I am looking for a used set of callaway big bertha or X18-20.
Most likley I will want graphite shafts. Now I play Senior, if the only clubs I
am able to locate have reg. graph. shafts is there a great amount of
difference? I probablly do have a slower swing, Driver 180 yds, 6 iron 120
yds.
Also, I understand that there are counterfeit callaways, are there serial #'s to
check? How does one determine a real from a counterfeit?
thanks
Answer
Hey Ernie,
I don't really think that most people could tell the difference in a regular flex shaft and a senior flex shaft if you made them hit both without knowing which was which. This is especially true in the short irons. Based on your driver distance and 6 iron speed I would probably end up recommending senior flex shafts if I were fitting you in person, but the regular flex would probably be ok as well. I've found that a shaft that is a bit stiffer makes it easier to hit the ball straight more often You might lose just the tiniest bit of distance, but you'd probably be more accurate.
As far as the specifics of that model...I've been out of the golf retail business for a number of years now, and I'm not familiar with that exact model. Buy from a reputable golf shop or pro shop for a set that has been traded in, and you probably won't get fakes.
Good Luck
John
