Ping Eye 2 Yellow Dots
Question
I just bought a used set of Ping Eye 2 irons with a "yellow" dot. What are the angle specifications for the yellow dots? Thanks, Jon
Answer
Hey Jon,
I don't know how old the clubs are, but the yellow dot is one that was recently added to the line up for ping fitting. Do you think that the dot might be "gold."
If the set is a few years old, I'd almost be certain that the dot is gold, which would have been the flattest lie angle you could get on the clubs ( around 3.75 - 4.0 degrees flat).
The beauty about ping clubs is that they can be adjusted at the factory. If they are in fact gold, then I doubt you could ever have them bent all the way to black (standard)...just too many degrees difference in there, but you could get the lie angle changed a color code or two.
Each set of ping clubs has the serial number stamped on the hosel. If you let PING do the repairs, than they will update their data so that the serial number reference now matches the new lie angle. If you ever lose your 5 iron after having them bent, they can re-order an exact replica of the club you lost, right down to the new lie angle. They will re-paint the new color on the dot for you as well.
