wedges plus apology
Question
sorry, I sent the same question twice. I really did get your answer. I got
mixed up sending a new question. New question, Same guy shoots in 80's.
Just got mizumo x-25 irons (senior). I have ping zing 2 copper wedges. they
are a little clunky, but very dependable. is there a reason to change to more
modern equipment? is there a difference in x-25 wedges and mizuno other
new wedges. is there a reason to match my clubs(altho my clubs have
graphite)? thanks for helping. also. saw best of phil on golf channel and he
hit a ball out of a bunker backwards! like a bicycle kick! what's going on
here? thanks, gene
Answer
Hi Gene:
No problem, wedges are so individual preference. In today's club manufacturing world, they are all good. What do you like, what feels good to you when you hit it? Your Zing 2 coppers are fine. Today's technology will not all of a sudden do some magical, super duper thing like a shaft that can give you an instant 25 more yards can. Wedges are for feel and touch, not distance, so maybe you try some different ones and see what you think. Personal preference Gene.
And as far as Phil hitting that shot over his head, again, no you cannot do that, but it would be fun to try. You would have to find the perfect lie and conditions like he had, and I doubt you ever will find them. It's best to reserve that one for the memory bank.
