Out of bounds line extension

Question
I know that the out-of-bounds stakes are in fact out of bounds.  What about (imaginary) line that connects then?  If my ball lies on the (imaginary) line connecting the markers, is it out?  If my ball lies between two stakes and appears to be right on the line that connects them, is it also out-of-bounds?

(In tennis, it's in; in football, out.  Unfortunately, I'm trying to play golf!)

Answer
Hi Rikki, all of the ball needs to be out for it to be deemed out of bounds, you take a line from the back edge of the stake too not the front, so if you draw an imaginary line from 2 stakes the ball must be entirely the other side of it. Hope this answers your question.
