SLICING/TAILING
Question
I have a problem keeping the ball in the fairway of the tee box, I have a fast swing of about 110-125 mph the ball has a tendency to slice at the last minute or tail to the right about 220 yards after it has left the tee box. Could it be the distance that I'm standing away from the club, i stand about 15 inches from the grip of the driver from my body or could it be another issue ...?
I bought the Medicus Driver for Christmas and i'm about to practicing with it,do you think it would help this issue that i have with my driving ? . . Any advise would be great to help me that you could give
Thanks
Answer
Hi Michael, we need to establish why your ball is curving/slicing to the right. It has nothing to do with how far away from the ball you stand. It is entirely down to the clubface being open at impact ( aiming right ). You need to square it up in order to hit it straight. Look at your hands/grip on the club handle, can you see 3 knuckles on the left hand? Are you holding the club with the fingers mostly or the palm? It should be the fingers, and you should be able to see 3 knuckles on the back of the hand. The old saying is "if your ball curves to the right, move your hands to the right", basically this means making your grip stronger and making the clubface squarer. If you start hooking the ball, you've moved them too much. Good luck.
