wrong score entered by marker
Question
in a points handicap competition game (one for par two birdie etc.)where the marker put down the score 3 on one hole and awarded two points when the competitor scored 4 and was entitled to two points. The competitor was quite rightly disqualified because the wrong score was entered but as he would have had a downward adjustment in his handicap was it correct to give him this because the points total was correct?
Answer
Hello and thank you for asking. In golf, any error on a scorecard in the end is the player's responsibility for his own scorecard. So when the card is handed in, and any number or information is wrong on the card, the player can be disqualified as the officials see fit.
