Occasional folding of arms driver or 3+ wood
Question
It never happens with the 7 wood or 9 wood nor the irons. My score these days for 18 holes is between 90-94 despite the below.
For the most part, I hit the driver and the 3+ woods (I have an 11 deg Orlimar and a Callaway Steelhead - what I like about a 3+ wood is that I can tee it about 3/8 inch or so and swing away) pretty solid, but there is that occasional shot where the arms fold or the wrists seem to break too soon (almost right after impact). This is one of the reasons I start off with a 7 wood on the first couple holes to tee off with (even if I go and warm up at the driving range, invariably if I tee off with a driver on the first hole it will happen). It is also for this reason that I don't carry a 3 wood on the golf course.
Answer
Lou:
Take a basketball or a beach ball and make some slow swings backwards and forwards with the ball. Take a small backswing, then swing the ball forward and up over your left shoulder. Keep making those swings while holding the ball and notice that your arms will never fold up just after impact. NEVER. As long as your swinging the club to the finish, your arms will never fold up. Learn from that and go practice.
