Getting Older
Question
I am in my late 40's and trying to improve... I shoot around 100... I consider myself 'strong' yet I do not get distance nor height on my shots... I thought about getting fitted for some good clubs, but is there also something wrong with my shot that I can improve on as well ?
Answer
Craig: Yes, but you would need to be looked at by a PGA Professional. Shooting around 100 is not bad, but if you don't get any distance and hit your shots real low, there are some fundamental issues a good instructor could clear up in a lesson or two to help you get both. However, in conjunction with that, good equipment is a must if you want to improve. And what I mean by good equipment is equipment that is custom fit for you. It doesn't have to be the most expensive set, but it does need to be fit for you. Getting the right shaft flex is key to heighth, and some simple adjustments in your setup or grip could make all the difference in the world. Find a good, PGA Professional in your area and go get some help. Ask them about clubfitting as well.
