getting new clubs
Question
I'm thinking about getting a new set of clubs, one up from my teen set that I bought just over an year ago. It's getting a bit small and I want some new clubs to increase distance and stuff. I was wondering if you had any suggestions to a brand I should buy. I'm going to go look at clubs, but was wondering if you had one that you personally like or that you think would fit me. My club speed is 95 mph... ask me if you need more info!
Answer
Jeff,
Here is what you need to do. First, find out what club in your area is going to put on a "DEMO" day. This is an event where multiple golf club manufacturers set up on the driving range. The general public is welcomed to hit clubs from the different vendors. Usually, the representatives are trained on custom fitting. This aspect is huge. It is so important to get clubs that fit YOU. The best thing about it, the cost is the same as buying a set from a store. get with the local PGA Professional and ask him about DEMO days and custom fitting.
As far as having a favorite manufacturer, I would have to say Titleist.
There are plenty of very good club makers out there such as Ping, Mizuno, Taylor Made and the like. All good quality.
Let me know how this goes.
