Shooting a course record

Question
Can a course record be scored playing in a pairs stableford competition. Even if the person scored on every hole

Answer
Trevor,

The following is from the USGA "Decisions On The Rules Of Golf", page 532.

MISCELLANEOUS DECISIONS

Misc./1 Course Record

The term "course record" is not defined in the Rules of Golf. However, it is generally accepted that a record score should be recognized as the official "course record" only if made in an individual stroke-play competition (excluding bogey, par or Stableford competitions) with the holes and the tee-markers in their proper medal or championship positions.

So the answer to your question is no. A course record cannot be set when playing in a Stableford competition.

Thank you for the question,
