how to become a head pro
Question
I am fifteen and I want to become a club pro. I'm good at golf and i like working on the course and want to learn more about what it takes do you have any advice for me.
Answer
Austin,
I think that's great. Golf is a business, so the business classes that you may be taking in school right now will be important to you. Study hard to keep those grades up.
It sounds as if your working for the superintendent at this point. You're getting some good experience. In time, see if you can work in the golf shop and it would be an added bonus if the head pro is a PGA member. Listen, study the golf swing, help out where you can and be very personable with the guests and/or members. Customer service is the most important aspect in becoming a golf professional. Most important in virtually all businesses that deal with the general public.
Tell the golf pro of your intentions and that someday you'd like to be his assistant golf professional. He/ she will be thrilled to hear your future plans and will help you along the way.
Good luck and let me know if you have any additional questions,
