grip change with offset irons?
Question
My new clubs have more offset than my last set, and it's not good so far. How should the greater offset change my grip, ball position? If I keep everything the same (hands basically centered), the iron face looks way open. If I put my hands forward, do I change my grip? I'm inclined to strengthen my grip as my hands move left (forward). Help!
Answer
Brooke,
My new clubs have more offset than my last set, and it's not good so far. MH Tell me why it's not good. How should the greater offset change my grip, ball position? MH It shouldn't change anything in your setup that 's fundamentally correct. If I keep everything the same (hands basically centered), the iron face looks way open. MH Try closing the clubface without changing your grip. If I put my hands forward, do I change my grip? MH In my opinion the hands should be opposite of the inside left thigh ( for right handers . MH Clubs should not warrant a grip change provided that your grip is good. I'm inclined to strengthen my grip as my hands move left (forward). Help! MH Hope I did.
I can't stress the following enough. Buy clubs that are fit to you. Demo them before you buy. You shouldn't have to change what you do to accommodate the clubs.
Thanks for the question,
