Full Swing Yips
Question
I was researching on the internet for any type of help I could get regarding the 搚ips? Mine is kind of a reverse 搚ip? I don抰 have any trouble with putting. As a matter of fact, my short game is excellent according to my friends. Mine is in the 揻ull swing yip?category. Many years ago I was a 3-handicap, vying for the Club Championship, when overnight I developed the 揻ull swing yips? I抳e now had these for more than 30 years, and am all but ready to give up the game of golf. I lie ?I love the game so much and work in a proshop part time, so I抦 so close to the game, it抯 impossible to get away from it.
I抳e taken lessons over the years, but no one can really relate to what I am experiencing. It has brought me literally to the verge of tears on a number of occasions, and pure rage or disgust on numerous other occasions. My friends will actually turn away when I start 搚ipping?so as to not have to view my pain. I spend countless hours on the range, and actually hit the ball decently on occasion both on and off the range. I may even play well for a number of holes, then hit one shot badly, and 揵oom? the yips set in and I am literally done for the rest of the game.
About 12-18-months ago I was playing from the blue tees on my championship course (I抦 currently 64 years old, so thought that was pretty good), hitting the ball in the 240-250 range and scoring in the 76-82 range consistently. I was able to do this by dramatically shortening my swing length. I lost yardage but was keeping the ball in play. Then all of a sudden the wheels fell off again. I had kept my 揻reezing? 搑erouting? etc., at bay for a couple of years, but they were back. I抦 now unable to even barely break 90, and am completely downtrodden. I play a few holes ok and then 1st bad shot - I'm done. The freezing up and rerouting also causes me to "chicken wing" my left arm, which gives me weak shots to the right.
I know from reading that Hank Haney had the same problem with full swing yips, as have a number of other pro抯 that have disappeared from the golf scene (some are now starting to reappear), so I抦 hopeful that you may have some insight for me. Any help, would be extremely appreciated. Many thanks in advance from a devoted, but helpless golf aficionado.

Answer
Hi Les: I haven't personally experienced this but have a good friend/fellow professional with the problem. Your question made me do a little research and I've come up with an article that may help you. After you read it and try what it recommends (or something similar), I'd be interested in getting an update.
