side saddle putting
Question
I have some eye retina problems and can't see straight lines. Prefer to putt with a long putter side-saddle style. (standing beside the ball, almost like in bowling.) Do I need a putter with a different lie angle than what comes on a typical long putter?
Answer
Greg,
You might want to experiment with long putters of various lie angles. I would find a putter with an 80 degree lie angle, the most allowed by the USGA. It would seem that the more upright the putter is the more accurate you will be. Sounds good in theory, but try it out on the practice green and see what works best for you.
