Golf Ball Selection
Question
A salesman/pro at a golf shop suggested I use Bridgestone (BS)6+ vs Pro VI. Reason was that my 90-95 MPH swing speed would not compress the Pro VI enough to get max distance. Pros higher speed was reason for its wide use on tour. The BS according to him was three piece, would compress enough to get better distance at my swing speed yet offered enough softness for shots onto the green. The pro at my club said this was opposite of all had heard. In other words the softer, more compression yields more distance. I feel I am hitting the BS a bit further. I leave a nickel size impression on driver face withe the BS. Significance of this? Your thoughts. Thanks.
Answer
Hello Henry and Merry Christmas. The reasoning behind the additional distance with the Bridgestone is sound. I've tried a Bridgestone but cannot say for sure which ball it was. I don't know why the ball would leave an impression. I've noticed that myself from time to time but have never made the connection to the brand of ball that left the mark. The salesman/pro may be able to answer that question better than I due to knowing more people using the ball.
Sorry I couldn't be of more help; I hope you find the answer.
