ruling on overhead power cables
Question
HELLO THERE
IF A BALL HITS OVERHEAD POWER LINES WHAT IS THE RULING
IF THE BALL GOES OUT OF BOUNDS BY IT OR YOU GAIN AN ADVANTAGE DO YOU HAVE TO PLAY THE SHOT AGAIN IN BOTH EXAMPLES WITH NO PENALTY OR IF YOU GAIN THE ADVANTAGE CARRY ON WITH THAT SHOT THANKS STEVE
Answer
Hi Steven,
If a ball strikes an elevated power line or cable, the stroke must be canceled and replayed, without penalty (see Rule 20-5). If the ball is not immediately recoverable, another ball may be substituted.
The rules are very clear on this.
