Can I use ladies clubs?
Question
John
I am a short stocky, unflexible guy with not a lot of strength. I have tried stretching, got some coaching, but thats the way I am -genetics man!
Would it be OK to try ladies clubs? I heard they are shorter more forgiving I dont care what my golf buddies say.
I used to play adult rec. hockey and when I switched to a junior stick from a senior I got more goals!
Answer
Hey Bud. It's possible that you might hit the ladies clubs a little better. What I would actually recommend is getting clubs that are the correct size and flex for your specific build. Sounds like you're going to need shorter than average clubs with less flex. A lot of clubs come in an "A" or senior flex that is stiffer than the ladies shafts, but more limber than a men's "R" flex. My feeling is that you would probably benefit from this kind of flex.
But I have to admit, if I were in your shoes, contemplating buying shorter clubs with less flex, I'd probably get my hands on a borowed set of ladies clubs first and see how things went. It might help you make up your mind. It can't hurt anything, as long as you can take some ribbing from your buddies!
Have fun out there!
