snap hooking
Question
I was about an 8 hdcp golfer until I hit thirty. For the past 5-6 yrs I have begun to almost always snap hook my tee shots. Irons are generally fine, I don't tend to hit the long irons much. The ball violently snaps hard left, I can't hit a ball straight down the fairway at all. Driving was always the strength of my game, and it is lost. Any help with drills would be appreciated.

Answer
Hello there and thank you for asking. Snap hooks would result because of these top reasons:
1. Your body is working less - therefore, try to fire your hips earlier and harder in the swing.
2. Grip is too strong - sometimes we change grips slightly without even knowing it. Yes you can still snap hook with a weak grip, but much less likely. Change to a weak grip and see what happens.
3. Ball position is off - A snap hook can happen at any ball position, but the more off it is, the more your hands tend to compensate for that and do something you dont plan on. It is amazing how bad aligmnent and ball position can be if you dont work properly at it, even for a scratch golfer.
