Golf Scorecard (4BBB S/ford)
Question
Hi there, on Saturday myself and my partner carded a 4BBB s/ford score of 43 points (off 3/4 handicap), on one hole however my partner had a shot and i didn't, i par'd the whole scoring 5 for 2 and my partner didn't score. Our playing partners, (ironically my Dad) who marked the card, accidently placed the 5 in my partners column and not in mine,i read the scores at the end of the game which obviously tallied up and then we signed and submitted our cards. We actually won the competition but were then disqualified as the 5 was not in the correct column although the score for the hole was correct as this was a BB game and not stroke play. Can i just ask if this is correct as the mistake made didn't effect our score for the better. The club contacted my Dad to check and obviously he confirmed his mistake by putting the 5 in the wrong column, could an opportunity not be made for my Dad returning to the club to rectify his error and sign his initials on the card to confirm the 5 was in the wrong place as the actual score (2 points) for the hole was in fact correct? Kind Regards
Answer
Hi Steve,
It's my understanding that the player is responsible for the hole by hole score, and not the addition, for a normal stroke play round. I would say you're responsible for the same in a 4BBB s/ford event as well, unless the local rules stipulate otherwise. It's up to the scoring committee to ensure the s/ford points are a correct match to the hole scores.
If really important, I'd submit your question to the USGA at www.usga.org
Hope this helps.
