Eddie, I am a middle aged man who closed my businees and now pursuing my passion , golf. I have caddied and played golf since age 11 . I am attempting to get hired as an assistant at a course as some of them do not require previous course experience. I am determined to find someone that will employ me fulltime so that after 6 mos. I can apply and start a apprenticeship with the PGA.What direction and or advice can you give me to secure this position. I am very excited and will do any thing to obtain it. Maybe you can refer me to a course and a pro that would hire me .

Hi David:
Congrats on your decision. The best advice I can give you is to get hooked up with a management company like a Troon Golf. It would be your best chance of getting hired and working your way up the ladder to success. Don't just take the first thing someone throws at you at any course. It also depends on what your goals are as to what direction you take. But regardless of that to start with, you just need to get a job and get started. You'll start at the bottom, and then it's up to you. I would suggest a Troon Management position. They have tons of courses all over the world, and they are not going out of business any time soon.
