Rules question - marking ball with tee....
Question
On the green, can I mark my ball with a tee (instead of flat object) if it's not in line with another golfers putt?
Answer
Jon,
This what is preferred from the USGA web site.
Note: The position of a ball to be lifted should be marked by placing a ball-marker, a small coin or other similar object immediately behind the ball. If the ball-marker interferes with the play, stance or stroke of another player, it should be placed one or more clubhead-lengths to one side.
Probably couldn't use the tee in a formal competition, but in casual play I feel it's ok. I've done it in the past when I've forgotten to bring along a coin.
